Vintage Photos
We're constantly looking for photos taken at our strip. Unfortunately all of the members were busy with our assigned duties while the races were taking place, therefore we don't have any pictures to speak of. If you have any old photos that you have scanned to digital format we'd love to see them; OR, if you have any old prints you would loan to us, we will scan them and get the originals back to you ASAP. Contact any of us and we'll make the appropriate arrangements.
We're also interested in ANYTHING you may have from White Hall Drag-O-Way, or any other Central Illinois Drag Strips. Trophies, Class Winner stickers, T-shirts, old fliers, .... ANYTHING! Please contact us and let us know what you have.
Here's one submitted by Tom Harrison of Virginia, IL. That's Mike Coker's 'Avenger' in the far lane and the late Kenny Dobson in 'Lil Bear' in the near (Tower Side) lane. (photo by Coker)

Here's another shot of 'Lil Bear' headed out the gate.

And some of the few shots we have that were taken by a member. The Williams, Hagen & Stewart Anglia.

We believe this '55 Gasser was owned and driven by 'Butch' DeLong.

Elmer Wells' '55 Chevy E/Gasser

Another Gasser; Rat powered '38 Chevy owned and driven by Don Welsh.

Looking for information on this Dart. Possibly one of the Factory Lightweight Hemi cars.
Hahnenkamp & Tite's "EXCEDRIN HEADACHE No. 69", engine by Paige Baker. If I remember correctly, Orange Car with Black Vinyl roof. Looks to have Bumble Bee stripes on the rear. If you know about this car please contact us.

"Snoopy", which was owned and driven by Bob Vaughn during our days, is now a Street Rod and has attended most or all of our Reunions. Currently owned by Henry Buchanan.

Member's car, taken late '68.

Below: Both the Chevelle and the Maverick are still around, and are owned by current members of the club.
Photo dates to 1974-75.

Another shot of the Starting line with Mike Coker's Avenger.

We're happy to say we've been in contact with John Teel's two sons and they tell us John is still active in the sport, and surprisingly still has this Factory 427 '67 Fairlane. It's currently under restoration and will be put back to Showroom condition (forgive us if we'd rather see it in race trim). Here's a shot of the car from March of 1972.......

..... and another shot of John and 'The Happening' in action, doing what they were meant to do!!!

This is our President and Track Announcer Paul Fansler in his Altered Wheelbase 427 Ford powered Falcon. Picture taken at Beardstown Drag Strip.

The following photos and articles were taken from a feature in the Havana, IL newspaper dated September 23, 1968. This was the year we opened the Asphalt strip. Huge Thanks to Mike Coker for sending us the vintage newspaper and allowing us the use of the photos.

The picture below shows current members Clyde Dunphy and Al Short manning the scales, along with the driver of the Chevelle.

A nice shot of the Starting Line and our Tower.

Here's Paul Fansler and the late Lyndell Guthrie; two of the weekly crew in the tower.

And some of the accompanying articles that made up the two-page spread in the newspaper.
